Repentance ceremony on August 30th, Year of the Tiger at Giai Lam Pagoda
Update: 26/09/2022
On Sep. 25, 2022 (Aug. 30th, year of the Tiger), men and women Buddhists returned to Giai Lam pagoda in Ha Tinh province (belonging to the custom of Hoang Phap 's pagoda) to attend a periodical penitential ceremony.
After stabilizing the ashram, the mass practiced together the penitential ritual. When the penitential rite ended, the practitioners listened to a dharma talk preached by Junior Thich Tam Luc.
He quoted the Sutta on Eliminating Hatred (Anguttara) to show Buddhists how to thoroughly understand the Buddha's teachings by five ways to eliminate hatred towards those whose body, speech and mind are not dignified, pure.
1. The person whose body actions are not dignified but whose speech is pure.
2. The person whose speech is impure, but whose body actions are dignified.
3. The person whose body actions are not dignified, whose speech is not pure, sometimes the mind is open, has a pure belief.
4. The person whose body actions are not dignified, whose speech is not pure, and sometimes the mind is not open and a pure belief.
5. The person whose body actions are dignified, its speech is pure, sometimes the mind is open and a pure belief.
By his analysis and preaching, the Junior advised listeners to forgive others, meaning that has forgiven ourselves. If we don't hate others, at that time we won't hold grudges with that person, we will be happy in the present and will not hold grudges in the future.
Thus, when we love others, it is also loving ourselves. Together, we build a harmonious life in the six harmonies of spiritual practice. It is a firm belief for Buddhists to follow the truth of the Buddha, achieving happiness with relatives, family and society by following the example of a good life and a good religion.
