Repentance ceremony on Jan. 14th, year of the Snake

On Feb. 11th, 2025 (Jan. 14th, LC), good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend a periodical penitential rite.

Junior Thich Tam Trinh, Vice Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda had a dharma named Confiding in the early spring before the rite.

 

The monk shared meaningful lessons by simple, honest stories of his daily life during the past spring days.

 

The series of days in our life have countless joys and sorrows of things that are satisfactory, or unsatisfactory ones. In the midst of such changes, people feel more deeply about our own smallness. Every person who comes or goes, every event that happens, whether good or bad, will bring invaluable lessons that we should not choose or reject. While joy is the motivation and encouragement that will add vitality and nourish a good heart; difficulties, adversity, even suspicions and insults are steps to progress, increasing compassion and patience of each person. Be grateful and cherish everything that comes to us in this life because all are necessary materials for our practice.

 

Let each person strive to transform our body and mind; grow strong, be filled with love, cultivate flowers of compassion to offer to Bodhisattva Ajita; pray for sentient beings in the boundless worlds to always be peaceful, pure and happy in the spring of Maitreya.

 

After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
