Repentance ceremony on July 14th, Year of the Snake
Update: 05/09/2025
On Sep. 05th, 2025 (July 14th, Year of the Snake), men and women Buddhists returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend a periodical penitential ceremony.
Monks of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Vuong - Abbot of Tay Phap temple in Tay Ninh, had a dharma talk named: Not forget the one's moral duties to its parents in life before the rite.
The monk preached a very meaningful message: filial piety is a measure of morality and a personality standard of every human being. It is also a good cultural tradition of the Vietnamese from past to present, also a noble beauty that Buddhists need to preserve and follow. Parents' love for their children is always the greatest and deepest of all the feelings in the world, such as parents are always tolerant and protective even though their children are wrong or mistaken. However, many children do not cherish that sacred affection; they insult, act and harm their parents because of greed, anger. There are unfortunate cases because of ignorance, the children behave impiety, even mercilessly murder the person who is born. But the cause-effect law always exists with the commensurate seed, that person will have to get back the retribution later. Filial piety is not only a human morality but also a cultivation that needs to be done every day. Living with a filial mind is suitable for the cause and effect law, creating and accumulating merit for this life and the next life.
