On Sep. 21st, 2025 (July 30th, LC), good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend a periodical penitential rite.

The monks of Hoang Phap pagoda in HCMC, Junior Thich Tam Duoc had a dharma talk named “Entrance to the religion” to all Buddhists before the rite.

Being a practitioner who wants to walk on the path of enlightenment as taught by the Buddha, one needs to have two dharma: right faith and precepts, which are likened to the gateway leading to the great path of awakening.

Considered as the first step on the awakening path, right faith is a genuine belief lit by wisdom placed in the Three Jewels and precepts; belief in causes - effects, and retributions, belief in the spiritual master, belief in the practice method and belief in itself own ability to attain enlightenment.

Along with right faith is precepts. Precepts are like a protective fence, like a good soil that nurtures the seed of enlightenment. Not only preventing evil, complying with precepts will cultivate goodness, help purify body, speech and mind; create a foundation for concentration and wisdom to arise.
