Repentance Ceremony On March 23rd, 2016
Update: 23/03/2016
In the evening of March 23rd, 2016 , many Buddhists in Ho Chi Minh City and other places joined the periodical repentance ceremony.
Starting the ceremony, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hong had a talk on the topic“Trivial though, but untrivialâ€
In our daily life we normally care for the important things but mostly ignore the unimportant things without knowing that these small things can bring about a big influence for practitioners.
In Samyuttanikaya the Buddha mentioned that there are four things that should not be looked down upon and despised because they are young: a small fire, a small serpent, a little prince and a novice monk. By means of this sharing, Hepointed out that inboth daily life and practicing, we need to be careful with the small things.
A small fire can destroy the forest, a small poison snake can kill man, a little prince can become a Great Dharma King and a novice monk can be an enlightened one and save all sentient beings. Therefore, those small things can leave unforeseen consequences if we look down or unrealize them. On the contrary, with the right view, everything can be a firm stepping stone on the path of liberation, even if they are small things.
The “Chinese Repentance Sutta†reported that “Dripping water can fill the river†and the practitioner needs to accumulate the kusala fruits from very small things. Being careful in everything makes perfect cultivation and leads to everlasting liberation.
Finishing the Dharma is the time for Repentance Ceremony.
