Repentance ceremony on Nov. 30th, year of the Dragon

On Dec. 30h, 2024 (Nov. 30th, LC), good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend a periodical penitential rite.

A monk of the pagoda had a dharma talk before the ritual. The listeners clearly know the ultimate truth of Four Noble Truths, such as  of suffering, its causes, the cessation of suffering, and the path to its cessation. That is the standard and law of the universe discovered and taught by the Buddhas. Thanks to the lecturer’s explanation, attendees have more knowledge on cultivation and self-improvement. When recognizing the truth and practicing according to the cessation of suffering, each practitioner will be calmer, more compassionate, and wise to let go of wrong views, gradually opening the curtain of ignorance that has obscured them for so long. Cultivators need to understand, practice, and contemplate the truths taught by the Buddhas to bring ultimate benefits to themselves and those around. Thus, each person should wholeheartedly practice the cultivation methods to purify their own mind, reduce greed, and overcome anger and ignorance.

 

After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
