Repentance ceremony on Oct. 14th, Year of the Cat

On Nov. 26th, 2023 (Oct. 14th, LC), good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of the pagoda gave a dharma talk for all the attendees.

Preparing for the 35th Founder's death anniversary of Late Great Most Ngo Chan Tu, the Junior recalled the life-career biography of the Patriarch's virtues, advising listeners to follow and be diligent, as well as practicing is the best way to show gratitude and repayment to the Founder.

The Buddha taught in the Infinite Life (Amitayurdhyana) Sutra, we should take Three Blessings and Pure Karma as the foundation: filial piety to parents, serving our master, being kind-hearted and not killing, cultivating ten good karma; accept and take Three-Refuge, keep whole precepts, and do not break the dignity; develop Bodhi mind, deeply believe in cause-effect, read and recite Mahayana, and encourage others to practice.

Thanks to the Abbot's lecture, the mass better understood the life of the Patriarch, who founded the temple that we return to study and take refuge in. Each practitioner is more deeply absorbed in Buddha's teachings on methods of study and practice that is the basic foundation for rebirth in the peaceful Pure Land.

After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
