On Nov. 12th, 2023 (Sep. 29th, LC) good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony.
Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Thach, Abbot of Quang Phap pagoda in Tay Ninh province gave a dharma talk named: Venerable masters.
Thanks to the gratitude of our parents for giving birth and nurturing us, we are present in this life and thanks to the teachers who gave us introductory lessons to knowledge and career; the teachers who gave us worldly knowledge, we must always remember.
The revered teacher and master of masters, Shakyamuni Buddha opened the path for sentient beings to lead a noble, enlightened, and liberated life. He is respected and praised by heaven and man with ten Titles: Thus Come One, One Worthy of Offerings, One of Proper and Pervasive Knowledge, One Complete in Clarity and Conduct, One who is always on the path toward Goodness, Well gone One who understands the World (desire, form, and formless), One who stands the highest among all beings in the Three Worlds, Teacher of Gods and Humans, The Awakened One, World Honored One. As a prince, He had all the worldly material things, a beautiful wife, good children... but he gave up everything, determined to become a monk in search of the truth, then achieved enlightenment. Thanks to the Buddha's great grace, today we can live and inherit the wonderful Dharma, so, each person should try to follow and practice His teachings.
The day of gratitude for teachers is coming, the monk preached some real-life stories about teachers who devoted their lives to education and benefiting others. Looking back at the Most Master’s life, our disciples should take it as pride and try to follow Most’s example, our revered master. This occasion, he shares the story of a person who has great grace for his life. In addition to being grateful for the birth and upbringing, that revered one is the person who created favorable causes and conditions for him to move forward on the path of peace and purity.
After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
