Repentant ceremony at Suoi Phap Pagoda

On Dec. 22nd, 2022 (Nov. 29th, LC) good men and believing women returned to Suoi Phap pagoda in Tay Ninh province (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda ‘s custom) to attend the periodic penance rite.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Huong, Abbot of Suoi Phap Pagoda had a dharma talk titled “The essence of life”.

The nature of life is impermanent and always changing, nothing is permanent. Everything will have a combination, then dissolution; having to be born, then having death, or having success, then having failure; our feelings are always intertwined, such as when happy - when sad; times of happiness - times of suffering. In that impermanence, the Buddha nature in each of us always remains and does not disappear. It is because of ignorance and afflictions that the self-nature has not been revealed. In order for our self-nature to manifest, we need to practice the dharma taught by the Buddha, such as sitting meditation, reciting the Buddha's name, chanting mantra, etc.

After the dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
