Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Huong preached the discourse named Sowing Seeds on the Mind's Land.

On a piece of land, whatever seed we sow, it will germinate into that tree. Our mind is like a land. If we sow bad thoughts (greed, hatred, delusion, jealousy), bad thoughts will bloom and bear those fruits; due to sowing bad causes in the mind, the reaping results is suffering and sorrow. Likewise, if we sow good seeds (Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Unattachment) into our hearts, those good seeds will bloom and result in peace and happiness.

From here, he encouraged Buddhists to sow many benevolent seeds on their mind’s land because it is a good cause to bloom good fruit and sweet fruit.
