Repentant ceremony on Jan. 14th, Year of the Tiger

On Feb. 14th, 2022 (January 14th, LC), Buddhist men and women everywhere went to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony. Because the Covid-19 epidemic is still happening, the rite was held in accordance with ensuring conditions for disease prevention and control according to regulations.

Before the ceremony, Junior Thich Tam Truong, Vice Abbot of the Pagoda had a dharma talk to share Buddhists at the beginning of the year.

The prolonged Covid-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of humans, making people anxious and insecure. So, everyone prays for a peaceful life, and goes to the pagoda to worship Buddha at the beginning of the year. The Ven. talked about the meaning of peace, so that the mass could better understand and practice according to the Buddha's teachings. Correct listening of teachings will help us know how to repent of our mistakes, limit our faults, and stay firmly on correcting three bad karma into good and gentle ones.

In the spirit of keeping five precepts, deeply believing in cause and effect, we will have a gentle attitude to accept bad results, have a clearer view, make our own efforts to rise up to renew our lives by creating a lot of good karma. As a result, all good things and peace will come to the soul of the person who does good.

After the Dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
