Repentant Ceremony on July 29th, Year of Mouse

On Sep. 16th, 2020 (lunar July 29th, Year of Mouse), the good men and believing women in and out of Ho Chi Minh City returned to Hoang Phap Pagoda to attend the periodic penance ceremony. Before beginning the rite, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Quy had a dharma talk to all participants with the topic: Observing much about yourself.

We often think we will understand our life best, but have we ever wondered if we have really  known ourselves? We often let our mind wander through the outside world so that when encountering adversity, we often suffer and hurt ourselves. Therefore, the Junior Ven. has analyzed in detail the conditions of formation, as well as the true nature of the human body and mind. From here, the monk showed the link relationships between body and mind. That is, when the mind arises a thought, actions and words of the body immediately follow. Therefore, we need to practice in the spirit of four right efforts to gradually eliminate unwholesomeness in our body and mind.

From this lecture, he reminded the mass to be diligent in doing merit - that is, cultivate inner blessings, clearly discern inner greed, anger, and delusion, always be alert to the actions of unwholesome, habits from oneself and apply the Buddha's teaching in which help transform sufferings and afflictions into happiness.

After that, the mass listened to the song Sand dust in life.

After the talk, the mass entered the penitential ceremony as usual.
