Repentant Ceremony on May 14th, 2018

In the evening of June 27th, 2018 (May 14th, Lunar Calendar), devout Buddhist from HCMC and the adjacent lands came to Hoang Phap for the monthly-repentant-ceremony attending. This time, there was the presence of Venerable Thich Tri Minh, a lecturer from the Vietnam Buddhist Institute. He had a Dharma Talk on the title of “Right Effort”.
Right effort is one of the eight in the Noble Eightfold Path means the way of practice without interruption, continuousness, and accordance with the Buddha’s teaching. The Buddha had taught different ways of practice lead to liberation, none of them absence the right effort, no matter Theravada or Mahayana practice.
According to Theravada Buddhism, the 37 wings to awakening including the Four Foundation of Mindfulness, the Four Supreme Efforts, the Four Means to Accomplishment, the Five Strengths, the Five Faculties, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Seven Factors of Enlightenment. Each of them containing the right effort.
After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha came to see the five brothers of Kondanna and gave to them the first dharma talk: Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, the sutta about the Four Noble Truths: suffering, its cause, its cease, the path leads to suffering’s cessation. The Noble Eightfold Path is the path leads to the suffering’s cessation and Right Effort is one of the 8 limbs.
Spending one-hour sharing, devout Buddhists gained the right knowledge from the Venerable lecturer. This motivates them to practice for the peace right now and later.
Finished the talk, people started taking the ceremony as usual.
