Repentant Ceremony on Nov. 30th, Year of Mouse
Update: 12/01/2021
On Jan. 12th, 2021 (lunar Nov. 30th, Year of Mouse), the good men and believing women in and out of Ho Chi Minh City returned to Hoang Phap Pagoda to attend the periodic penance rite.
Before beginning the rite, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Chieu had a dharma talk named the topic “Actions of the Wise and the Fool”.
Depending on our livelihoods, living environment, psychological tendencies, we will have thoughts and live with good or evil. In the spirit of Buddhism, people are divided into two kinds, those who are always to do evils, known as stupid one and people who are dedicated to do goodness, called wise one.
From the verse taught by the Buddha, he analyzed these two types of people. Fools are people who often do many evil deeds from body, speech, and mind, making life an unexpected end. In small evil deeds will lead to great sin to receive bad consequences later. The monk reminded about every action in life, at work and dealing with everyone around. Therefore, a wise person is a person who clearly knows the way he is going on, distinguishes between right and wrong to avoid sowing bad seeds that will affect the path of deliverance. In real life, the wise person will not ignore a small good thing but do diligently to always maintain and nurture the seed of virtue, calmness, and compassion in the mind.
By the way, Junior Ven. had some advice to all participants, diligently accumulate good things (even the smallest thing), cultivation, sowing good qualities and merit for ourselves; Also, should let go of evil due to false perceptions and direct our life towards the good and noble to have a peaceful living.
After the talk, the mass entered the penitential ceremony as usual.
