Update: 15/08/2017
On Aug 14, 2017 (Jun 23, lunar calendar), based on the invitation from Venerable Thich Giac Tang - Deputy Head of Management Board of Vietnam Buddhist Congregation in Bac Lieu province, Head of Management Board of Vietnam Buddhist Congregation in Hoa Binh district, Abbot of Buu An pagoda in Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province, Venerable Thich Tam Dao, Deputy Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, on behalf of the Abbot, came to deliver Dharma talks at the Renouncement Retreat and the “Bat Quan Trai” Retreat at Buu An Pagoda.
In the Renouncement Retreat, there were nearly 70 Buddhists volunteering to practice the renouncement life in 15 days. Simultaneously, there were 200 Buddhists joining the Bat Quan Trai Retreat that last one day.
Via the Dharma talk, the Venerable explained the meaning of renunciation as well as the large and important duties of clergy people. He reiterated that living a virtue life as a monk/nun was not an easy task. It is a myth thinking that life in pagoda were easy, comfortable and could help monk dodge his duty. In fact, the target of renouncement is to find the Path to Enlightenment for practitioner him/herself and help others get the same blissful situation. Additionally, the Venerable shared the daily sufferings of sentient beings to help Buddhists acknowledge the nature of misery and the way to attain happiness in present and liberation in future. Everyone should be aware of his/her own karmas to diligently practice to promote instead of underestimating them because karmas will take effect on us from life to life, from kalpa to kalpa.
After the lecture, the Venerable presented the Dharma gift from Hoang Phap Abbot to every participant including a booklet "Biet Loi Nen Sua" and VCD "Loi Lam".
