Junior Thich Tam Hue and devout Buddhists of Hoang Phap pagoda returned to Minh Chat retreat in Can Tho on March 05th, 2023 (Feb. 14th, LC) to attend The 1st One-Day Retreat.
Attending the retreat were the presence of Buddhists at Minh Chat ashram, Can Tho, as well as Buddhists at Hoang Phap pagoda, HCMC.
First began with a cultivation session late at 5:00 a.m., chanting the Shurangama mantra and reciting the Buddha's name.
After breakfast, the monks guided Buddhists in the demeanor to fold hands, prostrate; how to walk, recite Buddha's name, and make an offering.
After that, the mass had the time of reciting the Buddha's name, and chanted the precepts.
Finishing the chanting precepts, Junior Thich Tam Hue shared the topic: “Lucky day, good month”.
The World-Honored One taught: When we have good qualities every day, such as: thinking good things, speaking good words and doing good deeds that day is a good day. Thus, good or bad days are created by us, not by the creator, or by any supreme being. Therefore, Buddhists should actively do a good day for themselves, and others by purifying three karma instead of seeking to choose a good day from the fortune teller.
In a day, if we do not do wrong, evil and at the same time do many good and beneficial things, then it will certainly be a day filled with happiness and joy. Good days are natural every day, without relying on anyone for divination, we still have a good day if we know how to cultivate and transform our body and mind.
Over an hour of preaching, monks and Buddhists felt very peaceful, and took it as an extremely valuable knowledge on their way of learning.
After the Dharma talk, the mass walked meditation, recited Buddha’s name, and had lunch together.
In the afternoon, the monks guide Buddhists to sit meditation, recite the Buddha names, and walk meditation. Then, the mass offered food to alone souls.
Continuing the charity of the day, the monks gave gifts to 15 poor people, lonely elderly people and children. Each gift includes 10 kg of rice, cake- candy, as well as some of books: Retribution for killing creatures, Lessons of gratitude, Cultivation at home, A filial impiety son, etc, composed by Most Thich Chan Tinh.
Representative of the delegation, Junior Thich Tam Hue paid his gratitude to the monks of Hoang Phap Pagoda, who did not mind the long distance coming to the ashram to support the successful retreat.
