Thich Quang Thien - Member of the Sangha Education Board, The Lecturer at the Buddhism College and Intermediate School in HCMC, Abbot of Tinh Quang Pagoda, District 12, HCMC, came the main hall to preach a Dharma talk with Buddhists attending the retreat.
Through the Dharma Talk with humor and meaning reality stories, Senior Ven. wanted to remind the practitioners who have to practice according to the Buddha's teachings to get a happy living in the world of filled with suffering.
In the evening of the same day, under instructing of the Monks, Buddhists gathered on the main hall to attend the Zen tea of theme: “Practicing by implementing of leaving”. Before opening the ceremony, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Kinh talked about the meaning of organizing the retreat’s Buddha reciting and tea meditation. The Buddha taught His disciples that wish to obtain a happy life, we have to adapt to situations, want to adapt, we have to abandon, abandon by conscious awareness; on the contrary, a reluctant quiting is completely worthless.
In the space of tranquility and warmth of the fragrant smoke of incense, the masses had quiet moments of sitting and listening shared words by monks. Abandon means that there is not a mind of desire outside nor the mind of gaining inside. A abandoning mind has not attach any things outside, or exist a thought inside. Therefore, abandon means that bring the mind back to peace and quiet, nothing makes us sad, nor does it make us happy.
Only purity of one's mind will initiate peacefulness and happiness with tranquility that is true happiness that we need to seek. When having abandon, we could see what we need to see, know what we need to know, get what only when the mind is pure we get it be.
