The candle lighting ceremony commemorating Buddha Amitabha at An Son Pagoda - Quang Ngai

On Dec. 22nd, 2021 (Nov. 19th, LC), An Son pagoda in Quang Ngai solemnly organized the candle lighting night to celebrate Amitabha Buddha Birthday in the evening. Currently, the Covid-19 epidemic is still complicated; therefore, the ceremony is only organized in attendance of 50 members.
At the beginning of the program, Junior Thich Tam Khuyen, Abbot of An Son Pagoda briefly talked about the birthday of Amitabha Buddha to help the mass understand clearly about the Buddha's vows as well as the meaning of candle lighting rite. Next, it is the proclamation of 48 vows of Amitabha Buddha.
The program continued the most important ritual that is the candle light transferring. In the pure and sacred air, the candle light symbolizes wisdom and compassion from the Buddha altar spread by monks to the Buddhists. Candle light shines into the dark, suffering, dispelling the sorrows of human life.
Next, the practitioners simultaneously knelt down to recite the 12 vows of the Amitabha Buddha. These 12 vows are to help Buddhists have an orientation in their practice and aspiration to return to Amitabha Buddha's realm.
At the end of the ceremony, all participants listened to the Dharma speech from Ven. Thien Duc.
