On May 5th, 2019 (lunar Apr. 01st, the year of the Pig), Tieu Dao pagoda in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province organized one-day retreat for 450 Buddhists good men and believing women.
Response to the invitation from Junior Ven. Thich Tam Tinh - Abbot of Tieu Dao pagoda, Junior Ven. Thich Nhu Minh – Permanence member of Director Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Trieu town came to share the Dharma talk with the theme of “Holding Five Precepts and its benefits for Buddhists”.
According to his words, after taking refuge in the Three Jewels, we must obey to follow the same of rules that the Buddha taught to become a good person. That rule is the Five Precepts. The followers of Confucian religion who must live in accordance with five virtue foundation and three relations in the duty of a human , the Buddhist followers cannot just take the Three Refuge without keeping Five Precepts.
The person who has given the mind to take refuge in the Three Jewels has stepped up the ladder of liberation, but if he does not keep five precepts, he will only take one step and then stop, unable to reach true liberation. These five precepts not only help us advance on the path of deliverance, but also bring an order, joy and peace to the family, nation and society. The Five Precepts are five moral principles that the Buddha conducted, preventing evil thinking, badly speaking and inappropriately acting. These rules will help our lives be more peaceful and happier (have no killing, stealing, adultery, lies and no drinking).
At the end of the lecture, the mass entered the repentant rite to the Buddhas' names.
