The Eight Precept Retreat at Tay Khanh pagoda, Thai Binh

On April 11th, 2021, nearly 150 Buddhists returned to Tay Khanh pagoda (Thai Binh province) to attend the retreat of receiving Eight Precepts.
The One-day study program is as following:
- 6h30: Buddhists gather in the main hall.
- 7am: The repentant ceremony.
Beginning of transmitting precepts.
Precept Receiving of Buddhists.
- 9.15am: recite Buddha's name.
- 11am: have lunch.
- 12am: Take a rest.
- 13h30: Wake up.
- 14h: Listen to the dharma.
- 15h30: Repentance six senses.
- 18h: Rite of prayer.
Abandon precepts.
Complete the retreat.
In the morning, Junior Thich Tam Kinh, the abbot of Tay Khanh pagoda and the monks of Hoang Phap pagoda came to the main hall to transmit eight precepts to all Buddhists.
In the afternoon, the abbot of Tay Khanh pagoda had a dharma talk to the Buddhists on the occasion of Eight Precept Retreat by the topic Three Merit to come the Pure Land:
Nursing care to the parents,
Obeying teachings of the master,
No killing creatures by mercy heart,
Cultivating 10 good karma
Taking refuge in Three Jewels,
Keep enough all precepts,
Do not violate above rules.
Generating bodhicitta,
Believing in cause and effect,
Reciting the Mahayana scriptures,
Encouraging cultivation to practitioners.
These are indispensable requirements for the Pure-Land practitioners, helping to solemnize their body, developing merit, it is essential to the achievement of the goal of being born to the Buddha's realm in the future.
