The first day cultivation of meditating - reciting the Buddha's name at Tay Khanh Pagoda

On Oct. 4th, 2019 (Sep. 6th, the year of the pig), nearly 200 Buddhists began the first day meditating reciting Buddha's name at Tay Khanh Pagoda (Cao Mai, Quang Hung, Kien Xuong,Thai Binh).
After breakfast, the Buddhists gathered together at main hall to learn how about the practice of a Buddhist, such as prostrations, greeting, etc, when coming to the pagoda to apply, as well as the rules necessary to the retreat being solemn and pure.
At 14:00 p.m, all Buddhists were listened a Dharma talk by Senior Ven. Thich Nhat Tu, Abbot Giac Ngo Pagoda (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City), with the theme: Sufferings need forgetting, quitting and changing. On the Dharma talk, the lecturer preached three methods to lead a peaceful life for Buddhists as following:
- The first is forgetting suffering.
- The second is quitting suffering.
- The third is changing it.
We usually spend time to remember the past with sadness, lament about the unfortunate things that happen in life, therefore, we cannot really feel and enjoy the meaning that life brings us. That is why we should close the past, return to the present, practice: "no remembering, mentioning and exaggerating of sufferings ...". Then, we need to contemplate, find the root cause of suffering, so that we can truly change and quit it in life.
With practical examples were preached in the sharing session, his Dharma Talk brought much valuable experiences and lessons which could apply in daily life to gain the peace and happiness.
