The Great Ceremony of Buddha Birthday at Dong Cao Pagoda, Thanh Hoa

On May 19th, 2024 (April 10th, LC) thousands of Buddhists returned to Dong Cao Pagoda in Thanh Hoa (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda’s sect) to attend the Great ceremony of Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist calendar 2568.
After the repentant ritual, releasing creature, performance of singers to welcome Buddha birth, all participants queued in two lines welcoming venerable monks and nuns to the main hall at 9h a.m.
The ceremony was witnessed, present of Junior Thich Giac Trang, Member of Director Board (DB) of VietNam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) of Thanh Hoa province, Vice of Director Board of Quan Son District ‘s VBS, Abbot of Thach Tuyen pagoda in Thanh Hoa province; Junior Thich Tam Tri, Junior Thich Tam Chuc, Junior Thich Tam Diep as monks of Hoang Phap pagoda in HCMC; Nun Thich Nu Thanh Thuy – Vice Secretary of Nga Son district 's Head Department of VBS, Abbot of Kim Thanh pagoda in Thanh Hoa; Nun Thich Nu Minh Hieu, Abbot of Dong Tranh pagoda (Ha Noi); Junior Thich Tam Hung, Vice of DB of Nga Son district’s VBS, Abbot of Dong Cao pagoda, Head of the Organizers.
Beginning the ceremony, the mass performed the National anthem - Buddhism anthem, and stayed silent for a minute to remember the holy sacrifice for Buddhism, souls of soldiers sacrificing for humankind happiness and peace.
Then, members of the Youth Club of Dong Cao pagoda offered the most beautiful flowers to the Buddha and the Sangha.
On behalf of the Sangha, Junior Thich Giac Trang proclaimed a Buddha’s Birthday celebration message of Dharma Lord of VBS.
On behalf of the Organizers, Junior Thich Tam Hung stated dharma words to Buddhists. During the Buddha's birthday season, Buddhism disciples should decorate flags and lights, make a Lumbini garden at home and spread happiness to celebrate the birth of Buddha. For many generations, Buddhism has always accompanied the nation. Buddhists should maintain faith in the Three Jewels; encourage followers to live as Buddha’s teachings in daily life by practical actions in order to express their gratitude to Buddha and Patriarch not only during holidays but every day in the year.
