The Great Ullambana Ceremony 2022 at Phuc Lac Pagoda

Before the ritual, the Organizers joyfully welcomed leaders of government levels to offer incense and flowers to the Buddha. Fortunately, the weather was favorable, the Vegetarian Buffet and the great ceremony took place as scheduled and were a complete success.
A variety of vegetarian buffet with 40 vegetarian dishes and drinks are made by 12 groups of Buddhists at Phuc Lac Pagoda and made offering to connect good conditions with Buddhists everywhere. Over two hours passed, and most of the vegetarian dishes were fully enjoyed by all participants.
After the party ends, exactly 19h00 is the time when the Great Ullambana ceremony begins.
At this time, Junior Thich Tam Thanh, Abbot of Phuc Lac Pagoda shared with the listeners the Ullambana’s meaning to commemorate the merit of the parents. Over 5,000 rose sprigs were given to Buddhists so that the flowers would be brought home to the parents as a token of their deepest gratitude. Whether the parents are alive or dead, those red flowers are a symbol of the existence of parents. The pink color is love like the color of blood in the heart that parents have drained a life of sacrificing for us. That color is like a reminder we must remember our roots, about the great grace of our parents that we have to serve and repay.
The ritual officially ended with the chanting Ullambana sutra and offering prayers for present parents to have a peaceful life, and deceased parents to be soon born in a peaceful realm.
