The Great Ullambana Ceremony at Dong Cao Pagoda in Thanh Hoa

Dong Cao pagoda (Yen Khoai, Nga Yen, Nga Son, Thanh Hoa) held the Great Ullambana Ceremony only within the pagoda and broadcast via Facebook on Aug. 27th, 2019 (July 9th, Year of Mouse) due to the epidemic Covid - 19 complicated developments.
At 8:30 a.m., all Buddhists respectfully welcomed the Venerables coming to the main hall. The witness in the ceremony was Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hung - Abbot of Dong Cao Pagoda.
Opening the program, Mc Thanh Thuy and Dai Hai expressed the meaning of the special Ullambana Ceremony in 2020. The Buddhist youths of Dong Cao Pagoda offered almsgiving to the Three Treasures. Next part was the ritual of rose pinning, and everybody listened to Buddhist Tran Phuong reading the meaning of pinning roses. In that sacred time, the mass had a minute of recollection to commemorate the great gratitude of the Buddhas, the Founder and masters, parents' nourishment, gratitude of compatriots, the beings. Followed by the deep sweet lyrics of the song "A Rose Badge", “Carrying mother” by singer Ha Linh. The rite of parental Gratitude led by MC instructing everyone to pin rose badge, and then glasses of milk, some pious words of the children are presented to the parents.
An indispensable part of the program of the ceremony was the ritual of offering robes. On behalf of all Venerable, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hung praised the grateful spirit of all Buddhists and promised to receive offering. He also gave some words to encourage everybody in the season of filial piety. After the song "Ullambana" performed by little Ha Linh, the mass chanted the sutra Ullambana.
The ceremony ended in the joy and peace of the participants.
