The Nuptial Ceremony at Hoa Phuc Pagoda – Hanoi Capital

Long ago Nuptial ceremony became the culture of Buddhists. “Hang” means eternal, “Thuan” means agreement, love and compassion. This is spiritual ceremony for marriage in spiritual atmosphere of Buddhism. The Hang Thuan (eternal agreement) is not only guideline of happiness, wishing for joy to married couples but also the junction between religion and life. That is clever mix between national culture and spiritual culture
On the noble spirit, Venerables of Hoa Phuc pagoda (Hoa Truc Village – Hoa Thach Commune – Quoc Oai District – Hanoi) came to witness and wish for two young couples: Nguyen Trung Thinh and Vu Thi Hai; Nguyen Dac Son and Tran Thi Thuy.
Two young couples are practising at Hoa Phuc pagoda. Trung Thinh was born in a Buddhist family, whose father and mother are vegans for many years. The groom is a responsible member of services of Hoa Phuc pagoda and had many propagational contribution.

Under the Buddha statue, subtle frank incense, in the witness of The Three Jewels and relatives of the couples, they took an oath: Swearing to be faithful to each other and practicing Buddha’ Dharma; swearing to depend on each other and building happiness with love, understanding and patience; swearing to build and protecting family happiness in national tradition.
On spiritual and respectful atmosphere, on behalf of the pagoda’s monks, Junior Venerable Thich Tam Giai had wishes. He wished two couples had happy marriage, looking one direction together; live together for ever.
Then, the couple and the others listened to him explaining marital moral principles in Sigalovada Sutra (High Birth Sutra). He advised that the young couple have to fulfill duties; get belief on The Three Jewels as fulcrum for marriage life; cultivate together and build Buddhist family; practice Right Dharma.
The ceremony ended in best wishes of the hundreds of Buddhists. And it is certain that after this ceremony, they would hold pure value of life peacefully and morally.
