Update: 24/10/2017
The retreat of eight precepts at Hoa Phuc pagoda from 20th to 22nd of October in year 2017 (lunar Sep. 1st, Rooster of Year) up to now finished completely in the quiet version of Hoa Phuc pagoda and in the cool atsmosphere of Autumn.
In early morning of Oct. 20th, 2017 (lunar Sep. 1st, Rooster of Year) all cultivators gathered to register their attendances at Hoa Phuc Pagoada.
On this course, there are new appearances when it received the application for not only old people but also the young ones of pupils and students. At 2h P.M, all Buddhists welcomed Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hoa, the Abbot of Hoa Phuc pagoda, who came to main hall to offer incense toward the Buddha and transfer eight precepts.
Under the instruction of the monks, eight precept’s keepers had their vows to the Triratna for diligent cultivation, principle keeping which increases blessings and prays for all people in life, who were able to learn early dharma Buddha. In the solemn atmosphere of fragancy incense, they vowed to quit their usual joyfulness and diligent cultivation.
As the one getting a right practice of the eight precepts, though one day and one night,
he or she could reduce of its endless faults and increase boundless blessings. The achievement pearl is small but it shines more other ones.
The Buddha taught “Those who are willing to cultivate in one day and one night could decrease numerous guilt, increase great blessing. Although a germ is small, it will light the brightest.
In Sala world, what causes that we always suffer forever? By having experienced in cultivating for many years, he conducted that: “Suferings are the feelings of ignorance, misery, painfulness in the body.†For instance, when we are ourselves cut by a shape thing on the legs, or sands fall into our eyes, then they cause our pains. That is not enough. Suffering appears due to our loss, failure in life. Particularly, there are eight ones that people can not avoid. They are birth, old age, illness, death, love for separating out, hatred for facing, desires for unsuccessfulness, and five senses growth. The reason of sufferings is the love including of Self Love and Possessive Love. It shows by six senses (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, percept) six objects (sight, sound, smell, taste, thinking, dharma), then six percepts of eyes, ears’, etc, (precept of distinguisability).
After dying, what things would we still possess? Truly, our body is constructed by impermanent components, such as fame and body appearance. Therefore, there will be ruined by birth, age, illness, and death. On each passing moment, we still spend on four periods. Thus, our body is not lasted forever as it is written in the sutra that we keep five components on establishing a living body for a suffering. This will get a percept for next rebirth, karma of rebirth. Five components are five forms of shapes, feelings, memories, habits, percept. Meanwhile, feelings, memories, habits percept belong to the name. Showing of percept includes desires’ finding, angry finding, and ignorance finding, etc, which are the causes to lead to rebirth. One could end the rebirth when they develop wisdom insight to recognize the nature of five components as of impermanence, suffering and nothing.
By his preaching, the Junior Ven. explained about the detail of desires. It is five desires in life, as the causes of sufferings.
Therefore, we should remember whether or not our body is impermanence, from which they have wisdom, awareness and live a possessive and meaningful life everyday.
In summary, we could understand that because of the viewpoint of human to the world that they will be misery or not. When they do not keep on themselves, desires or defiments, etc, which they would control, exist in mind, they will be peaceful and happy.
Ending of cultivating the major day at Hoa Phuc pagoda, the precept keepers attended “the rite of releasing precepts†in the afternoon of Oct. 22nd, 2017. The Junior Ven. reminded all Buddhists to remember themselves as the Buddhists, Buddhas, Bodhi sattava in the future. Thus, in spite of living at pagoda or in society, we should diligent cultivate, practice the Buddha’s teachings in life which helps reduce or ignorances.
