The third “Take Refuge with the Triple Gems” Ceremony in 2018

On 2nd Feb 2018, around 1.400 Buddhists from various land came to Hoang Phap to join the “Take Refuge with the Triple Gems”, the 3rd ceremony in 2018.
ake Refuge is an important ceremony to remark a person as a Buddhist, start to train themselves in the Buddhist way to be a moral and good person. For these reasons, the ceremony was organized very solemn and serious for the whole day.
In the morning, having registered, people all gathered in the main lecture hall for learning the basic poses as a Buddhist as putting palms together, bowing down, worshipping… The monks also explained the meaning of some Buddhist terms as “Triple Gems”, “Five Precepts”, “Upasaka”, “Upasika”, …
In the afternoon, the official ceremony was taking place with the witness of the monks. On the behalf of the monks, Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh gave the Triple Gems and the Five Precepts to the candidates. Then he addressed some teach and admonishment for the new Buddhist to keep well the Rules and play well their practice.
He emphasized that it’s not easy to be born as a human being and have a chance to learn Buddhism, to be a Buddhist… For all, we had built the right faith when taking refuge with the Buddha, Dharm, and Sangha. A story about a rich man and his four wives implied what is most important to us in life. As a Buddhist, we should know how to take a happy life in current and in the next life. It’s how we fulfill our morality as a real Buddhist. The Five Precepts are the five moral norms to improve oneself and lift them up to be pure and noble.
The ceremony closed with the joy of all the participants. They all had a small gift with the 3 books composed by Ven. Abbot: Summarizing the Buddha’s life, Triple Gems and Five Precepts, Brief Introduction to Hoang Phap Monastery.
