The Ullambana Great Ceremony 2023 at Giai Lam Pagoda, Ha Tinh

On the morning of Aug. 27th, 2023 (July 12th, LC) at Giai Lam Pagoda in Ha Tinh Province solemnly celebrated the Ullambana Great Ceremony 2023, Buddhist Calendar 2567 with attendance of over 1200 Buddhists.
In the solemn atmosphere at 8:30 am, male and female Buddhists welcomed the Sangha entering the main hall to witness the great ceremony. The program was attended by Senior Thich Thien Nhon, Standing Members of Ha Tinh Buddhist's Deputy Culture Board cum Director Board (DB), Head of Thach Ha district’s Buddhist DB, Abbot of Thanh Quang Pagoda; Monks, Nuns from the local pagodas, Hoang Phap pagoda attended the ceremony.
After declaring the reason, introduction of participants, the mass listened to the meaning of rose-badge pinning. Finishing the speech, everyone spent a minute in remembrance of the deep favour received in life. Following the program is the ritual of setting roses. The young in the flower pinning team dignifiedly put a yellow rose on the monk’s robe, symbolizing the noble deliverance and gratitude of the monk to his parents. After that, Buddhists received roses and put them on their chests.
On behalf of the organizers, Junior Thich Tam Luc had the confiding words in the ritual to his parents.
Then, it was the sacred moment of group members, offering robes to the Ullambana season. The young respectfully performed a robe offering to the monks.
Responding to the piousness of Buddhists, the Senior of Head Director Board of Buddhism in Thach Ha district gave teachings, praising filial piety and encouraging listeners to have a spirit of gratitude, and repayment.
Then, monks in the ceremony held a ritual of sprinkling pure water on the statues of Arahat Anan and Mahakasyapa in the main hall. The ceremony ended in joy for the participants.
In response to the Organizers’ invitation, Junior Thich Huu Tu and monks came to perform a ceremony to pray for rebirth for the deceased, ancestors of many previous lives, then offered a meal to the spirits.
