The Ullambana Great Ceremony at Tay Khanh Pagoda in Thai Binh

The Ullambana Great Ceremony has become one of the tradition of the Vietnamese nation. The full moon of July is an opportunity for the human to come to the pagoda which commemorate the nurturing of the parents.
In a solemn and pure atmosphere, on Aug.14th, 2019 (lunar July 14th, the Year of the Pig), Junior Ven. Thich Tam Kinh - Abbot of Tay Khanh Pagoda, Cao Mai Village, Quang Hung Commune, Kien Xuong District, Thai Binh Province preached the Dharma to the attendees on occasion of Ullambana Great Ceremony.
During preaching the dharma, Master Ven. explained the merit of parents who took care to support ourselves learn well and become a good citizen to the society. Therefore, the duty of each us should repay the parents’ merit not only by taking care of the material, but also by guiding parents to go to the pagoda, relying on the Three Jewels to have a safe life at present and next life.
Accordingly, the preacher mentioned the story significance of the Ullambana's Ceremony by the image of the Buddha disciple who expressed his filial mind to the mother, was Saint Maudgalyayana. By this story, the Lecturer helped the mass to better understand the law of causes and effects, karma and its retribution according to the Buddha's teachings. Buddhists should cultivate and practice the Dharma, do good deeds and avoid bad actions, as well as accumulating merit, taking it as luggage on the path of enlightenment and deliverance.
After sharing the Dharma, the mass entered the time of chanting Ullambana sutra and commemorating the great merits of the parents.
This occasion, the monks and Buddhists came to the Vien Minh Pagoda (Rang pagoda), wishing a long life to the Most Thich Pho Tue - the Third Dharma Lord of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Senior Ven. Thich Tien Dat - Abbot of Dai Tu An pagoda.
