Thousands of Buddhists coming to Dien Quang Pagoda to join New Year’s Praying Ceremony for Peace

According to the Vietnamese religion, going to pagoda at the beginning of a new year is not only to pray for peace and happiness, but that is an occasion for people to go into their deep mind without any hard thinking in living life. Moreover, going to pagoda is the time for people to find relaxation. When being at a pagoda - a divine place, everyone equals, there is no gap of age and status. To honor this divine atmosphere, in the morning of February 5th, 2017 (Lunar January 9th Rooster Year), thousands of believing men and women came to Dien Quang Pagoda joining the New Year’s Praying Ceremony for Peace.
At 08:00 AM, Senior Venerable Thich Tam Quan- the abbot of Dien Quang Pagoda sent best wishes to all the attending Buddhists and their families. In the ceremony, the Abbot explained that praying ceremony for peace is not just to emphasize good and evil things but concentrating on one’s own speech as well as actions. The Abbot added that deeply believing karma is the source of carrying good things and happiness.
Coming up next was Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem came in very warmly welcome. He now is the vice president of managing board, and also the manager of Hoang Phap head quarter in Viet Nam Buddhist Association as well as chief editor of Buddhist Association in Ha Noi. On the occasion of Tet holiday, on behalf of all monks and nuns at Dien Quang, Senior Venerable Thich Tam Quan offered blessings to the Most Venerable and wished that Triple Gem will offer him health, happiness, strength to help and guide the new generation to study Dharma. In response to their respect, the monk wished all a new year of many blessings. After that, the monk gave a Dharma talk on the topic “The meaning of Fu-Lu-Shou or Happiness-Wealth-Longevityâ€. He explained that in our living life, everyone wants to catch all Fu-Lu-Shou, yet, not everyone knows how to achieve them. Being a Buddhist, it is important to practice to do good things such as helping each other, living pleasantly with family, friends and society. Moreover, we Buddhist should apply and share Dharma in life in order to get these 3 kinds of luck Fu-Lu-Shou which will help us to become a real Buddhist. Finishing the Dharma talk, Buddhists and all attendees started to the ceremony of praying for peace by offering incense to Buddha and chanting the Pho Mon Sutra to wish for a peace world and happy life.
After having lunch in the afternoon, the ceremony continued by the event of releasing creature and feeding 10 kinds of animal.
In the evening, Senior abbot Thich Dao Quang gave a Dharma speech on Dia Tang Sutra (the next part) and advised people the way to reach a peaceful and happy new year.
