Ullambana Ceremony 2015

The Ullumbana has become a beauty in Viet Nam culture. The full moon of lunar July is an occasion for people to come to pagoda, thinking about the parents" nurture.
Hoang Phap Pagoda solemnly celebrated Ullumbana Festival on August 28th2015(July 15thGoat Year). Thousands of buddhists from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provice came to attend the ceremony.
At 9 am, when there were three rolls of Prajna drums,buddhists already stood in two lines to welcome honored monks who came to the hall for ceremony witness.
After the ceremony started with the statement of the reasons, program contents and participants presentation, members of the Young Buddhist Association of Hoang Phap pagoda represented for the whole great assembly to pay tribute to the Buddhas' ten directions to create auspicious conditions on the occasion
Next was pinning a rose on participants' shirts. The great assembly was listening to the meaning of this practice by MC Thao Nguyen's speech. In that scared moment, all buddhists had a minute of silence to remember the graitude that they showed the Buddha,the patriarchs, the original Masters, dharma martyrs. Besides, they also thought off their grace to the country, various living beings, creditible ancestor ladies and gentlemen, ancestor spirits and parents of many previous lives.
The song A Rose Onto the Shirt which was performed by the voice of Kyo York singer helped everybody deeply feel about irreplaceable Mom-and-Son love.
Under the blessing of Buddha's ten directions and witness of honored monks, buddhists were facing three jewels to show their gratitude to their parent's Ten Great Debts Of Gratitude . After the Thanks Giving ritual, Senior Venerables and honored monks offered wreaths of flowers and strings of beads to their parents to show their sincere gratitude towards their parents.
Following the Venerable Moggallana's good examples of filial piety, members of Young Buddhist Association of Hoang Phap Pagoda represented for great assembly to offer robes to honored monks . With melodious, light and flowing singing voice, singer Hà Vân performed the song" Robe Offering" in the great festival day.
At the end of the ceremony, the Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tich representing all the monks appreciated the Buddhists' noble spirit of filial piety and their commitment to making merit offerings to The Three Jewels. He also gave some advice to everybody.
We return thanks to our parents not only in taking care of them but also in guiding them to the Buddhist Dharma for having happiness in this life and after life.
Additionally, pious children need to live in a good way and preserve the five precepts, the basically ethic foundation. Moreover, we should educate our offsprings to live ethically, create conditions for them to come to pagoda, return to rely on the Buddha Dharma to have a positively healthy life style.
After the abbot’s talk, everybody enjoyed watching a short play which was deeply moved on the title" mother's love" performed by members of the Dharma Protection Group of the pagoda.
As usual the final section of the ceremony is the Ullambana sutra‘s chant for people to contemplate great merit of their fathers and mothers.
In the program, there was also participation of singers Nguyen Phi Hung, Quach Beem, Giang Hong Ngoc with songs "The Fulcrum of my Life, Mother, Living for My Mother"
