Ullumbana Ceremony at Tay Khanh Pagoda – Thai Binh Province.

On August 25th, 2015 (Lunar July 12th, Goat Year), Tay Khanh pagoda - Cao Mai village, Quang Hung commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province held Ullumbana Ceremony. Over 600 Buddhists in the area gathered to attend.
Gratitude and repayment are good tradition for ever of Vietnamese nation – a nation appreciates the value of human culture deeply. Especially Buddhists always keep in mind Parent’s favor among four favors. Ullumbana season is coming – on the pardon dead day. Buddhists have practical activities to commemorate merit of Parents.
Being a part of activities of Ullumbana cultivation course in 3 days (from Lunar July 11th – 13th, Goat Year), Ullumbana ceremony at Tay Khanh pagoda has awakened everyone to direct the soul to Parents.
At 3:00 pm, all of good men and believe women solemnly welcome the Venerable and the Monks who witness and celebrate the Ullumbana Ceremony.
After proclaiming reason, introduction of program and participant, teenage Buddhists of Tay Khanh pagoda on behalf of all participants offered the six articles for worship to Buddhas of the ten directions, Triratna and the Venerables presenting to create auspicious condition on the Ullumbana Ceremony.
After that was the rite of pinning roses. All of Buddhists listened to Junior Venerable Thich Tam Kinh’s speech about meaning of pinning roses. In that sacred moment, everyone kept a minute of silent in order to remember Buddha’s merit; Patriarch’s education; Parent’s nurture and the merit of country, the people and all of the living things; revolutionary martyrs who had lain down their life for peace and happiness of everybody.
Mixing with sweet words of Pinning rose song and Father’s love by singer Quang Dung again reminded everyone of Parent’s great sacrifice while roses were pinned on the shirts.
One of the indispensable parts of the ceremony is offering robes. Buddhist teenagers of Tay Khanh pagoda on behalf of the bodhimandala, wholeheartedly offered things to the Monks with all respect.
Coming to witness and attend, Senior Venerable Thich Thanh Dinh, Member of Vietnamese Central Buddhist Church, Permanent Deputy Chief of Vietnamese Buddhist Church of Thai Binh province, Abbot of Tu Xuyen pagoda – Thai Binh province appreciated the Buddhists’s noble spirit of filial piety and their commitment to making merit offerings to The Three Jewels. The Senior Ven. had some recommendations to Buddhists on Ullumbana season.
Finally was the ceremony of incense offering to the Buddha and praying in this Ullumbana. All of the Buddhists single-mindedly chanted the sutra to pray for the dead and the living, wishing that all enjoyed the festival immensely.
