Welcome the New Year’s Eve of the Tiger Year
Update: 01/02/2022
At the moment between the old and the new year according to Vietnamese’s tradition, most people hope to stay at the temple, return to the spiritual source and pray for peace and health of all family members in the new year.
Welcoming New Year's Eve at the pagoda is an annual tradition of Vietnamese people to pray for a peaceful new year with many advantages. Therefore, the mass has gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the peace praying rite, wish longevity to the abbot as well as listen to dharma words in the early spring in the hope of winning the current epidemic.
First, the mass has a moment of silence to look back over the year, as well as send peaceful energy to everyone.
After the ceremony praying for peace, on behalf of all the monks and Buddhists, Ven. Thich Tam Truong, Vice Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, paid wishes of long life to Most Abbot Thich Chan Tinh in early spring. He offered his words of praise and gratitude to the Master, a noble heart that is always directed towards sentient beings by the four dharmas of attractives. Master will always be a shining example for the later generations to follow by his personal teachings so that his disciples can make more efforts in studying and completing Buddhist affairs.
After that, the mass listened to teachings in early spring and wished a Happy New Year from the Abbot. In 2021, a strong and complicated epidemic broke out, causing loss of property and lives of millions of people everywhere. That has affected the retreats also had to be suspended, and then Buddhists could not return to the temple to study. This has clearly shown the nature of impermanence in the middle of life so that we can practice diligently, amend our three karmas every day to be pure, and try to do a lot of good deeds to have a happy and peaceful life. From this pandemic, our presence is still in life as a great blessing; Therefore, we must know how to cherish the moment when we are with our loved ones, we can open our eyes to understand life. Finished, the Master told a parable between a fox and a tiger for the mass to ponder and draw lessons for them. Finally, the Master wished and encouraged the study of the little learners.
Then, the monk sent red pocket and dharma gifts to the participants in the New Year’s Eve.
The attendees followed the instructions, gradually keeping their distance to receive lucky money pockets from the Master.
