Witnessing Hang Thuan (wedding in pagoda) Ceremony

Organizing a wedding ceremony at pagoda is one of the beauties in Buddhism culture. Even though this trend has just been initiated in recent years, it is enthusiastically followed by many Buddhist families. Under the solemn statue symbol of Bhagava and the witness of Three Jewels, young couples vowed a faithful marriage life and obeyed the ethical rules of Buddhism. The memory will make a deep imprint in two people’s heart, in order that both might know to stop trivial mistakes and appreciate each other once they keep rush pace of life .

After going through the rites of a usual ceremony such as offering incense to the Great Fame, representing two families to exchange wedding rings, etc. on behalf of the present monks, Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, the Abbot of Hoang Phap monastery, proved the reception and delivered noble words concerning spousal life for the young couple.

In Buddhism, a spirit of harmony is taught to Budha’s disciples so as to practice and coexist in harmony and happiness. Six principles of harmony are: Body concord, Speech concord, Opinion concord, Precept concord, View concord, Beneficial concord. In any organization, if Six principles of harmony are well applied, they will develop in long-term sustainability.

Supposing a family applies the Six principles, the whole family surely has a blissful life. Both wife and husband would know how to listen, respect and care for the partner; children would also be obedient and express filial piety to their parents and grandparents, the adults in the family would nurture and care for children and grandchildren. As a result, one family practice and follow Six Principles of Harmony, all of the family members could become good people. Family is considered as a nucleus of society. Therefore, the prosperity and sufficiency of family will bring society to prosperous development.

Then, the Venerable awarded certificates of Hang Thuan and gifts to young couple.
