Buddha Activity
One-Day Practice
Update: 25/01/2026
rganizing its regular one-day Practice, Hoang Phap Pagoda recorded the participation of over 4,000 Buddhists everywhere in the joyful atmosphere of the last month of the lunar Snake Year, solar calendar on Jan.25th, 2026.
After having breakfast, all Buddhists came to the lecture halls to begin reciting the Buddha name, walking meditation and chanting precepts. After the ritual, students listened to a dharma talk named Upheavals - Lessons on Impermanence preached by Bhikkhu Giac Minh Luat is currently studying as a PhD student at MCU University of Thailand.
"There is one thing that we can almost never foresee: misfortune, bad news, setbacks, and unforeseen events in life."
Therefore, the monk taught the listeners how to prepare their minds to face life's vicissitudes in the spirit of those who "inherit the Tathagata's Dharma." That upheaval is unpredictable, very fast, very real, and painful. A person with correct understanding, living in accordance with the Dharma will recognize what is essential and important, so as not to be bound by trivialities, leading to competition, conflict, gain or loss.
Indeed, practice is not about avoiding sudden happenings, but about remaining steadfast when events come, not being swept away by them. Cultivating the Dharma is about practice, experience, facing, and accepting, letting go of what needs to be let go of gently in the face of the impermanence of all things.
Closing in the attendees' joy and serenity, this Dharma talk helps each person learn how to live peacefully and freely in the face of their own personal events.
After reciting the Buddha name in the afternoon, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly. Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received book gifts.
