One-Day Practice
Update: 17/05/2026
Organizing as usual One-day Practice on Sunday of May 17th, 2026, Hoang Phap Pagoda recorded the crowded participation of nearly 5000 Buddhists everywhere to attend.
After the recitation of Buddha name, walking meditation, and chanting of precepts, Most Master Thích Chân Tính came to the Dharma Hall to deliver some Dharma teachings in the upcoming 2026 Buddha's Birthday celebration. He advised Buddhists to strive to study and practice the Dharma; comply with five precepts of a devout Buddhist: not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery, not to lie, and not to drink alcohol; and diligently maintain a firm Bodhi mind and unwavering will in our practice. Buddhist disciples should express our gratitude by various forms, such as displaying Buddhist flags, decorating the Lumbini Garden, etc....but most importantly, practitioners should make vows and that spreading of the spirit of Great Compassion by refraining from killing so that will make the Buddha's Birthday celebration "A day of Great Love, a day of great joy for all beings."
Following the Head Master's sharing was a Dharma talk preached by Junior Thich Quang An, a Lecturer at the Elementary Buddhist School (HCMC) on the topic "The law of dependent origination: what are conditions, and causes-conditions?"
All things in their myriad forms, depend on conditions – many factors combine to form and bring about an object or phenomenon. This is clearly shown by (1) the arising of one thing supports the condition for the appearance of the next; (2) The absence of something is a condition for the appearance of the previous; (3) Two things are present at the same time; (4) The absence of one thing is a condition for the appearance of the other. Therefore, he emphasized, we live more responsibly (understanding the interrelationship), let go of what needs to be let go of (clearly seeing the impermanence, suffering, and non-ego) and live more peacefully by understanding the principle of dependent origination. Because Dependent Origination only determines half of our destiny, the other half is created by ourselves.
After reciting the Buddha name, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly in the afternoon. The One-day practice ended in joy for all attendees. Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received a dharma book gift from the Organizers.
