The 4th day of Summer Retreat 2025 “The Good Mind Youth”
Update: 13/07/2025
The morning of July 13th, 2025 is the fourth day of the retreat. In the morning, students recited the poem "Remembering gratitude" with monks.
After having the breakfast at 8: 00 a.m, all students listened to a dharma talk Aloneness among a sea of people preached by Nun Dr. Thich Nu Huong Nhu, Deputy Nun Board of the Central of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Standing Member of Dharma Propagation Board of Central of VBS, Lecturer of Vietnam Buddhist University in HCMC, Abbot of Thien Quang Pagoda, Binh Duong Province.
Despite living in a modern society with technological connections, people are gradually becoming distant from each other, and feel lonely. Loneliness is considered the "disease of the century" that has been spreading into every soul, making young people feel lost in life, even when still present among family or in the crowded world of social networks.
Because they cannot connect with their body and mind due to not understanding themselves, lonely people often live in external forms, losing themselves, losing the miraculous life that happens in every breath. To escape that loneliness, the young or people feeling lonely need to return to listen to themselves, live mindfully and cherish the things that are present in life. Practice conscious breathing, practice the Four Right Efforts (preventing bad things from being done, stopping bad things that are happening, diligently doing good things that have not been done, increasing good things that are already doing), diligently practice and apply Buddhism to brighten the inner self, helping practitioners realize the true value that is full of love and understanding within ourselves. When transforming our own suffering, we will naturally spread the energy of compassion, understanding and tolerance to help others escape loneliness and live a peaceful and happy life.
Last, the Nun took the time to answer questions surrounding her sermon topic.
