A praying Ceremony for Security at the Beginning of Lunar Year at Tay Khanh pagoda- Thai Binh province

Trong tiết xuân nhè nhẹ, người người nô nức đón chào một mùa xuân mới với bao nhiêu ước mơ và tràn đầy hy vọng. Cũng như vậy, những người con Phật tìm về cội nguồn tâm linh của mình, tìm về giá trị đạo đức truyền thống cao đẹp trong văn hóa đi chùa đầu năm của ông cha ta từ ngàn xưa.

Spring is the time for ceremonies.  Many people come to a pagoda in an early spring pray for their family a peaceful, happy and good year. On  February 20th , 2018 (Lunar January 5th  Dog year) Tay Khanh pagoda (Quang Hung commune, Kien Xuong district- Thai Binh province) held a ceremony praying for safety at the beginning of the year for Buddhists under the instruction of the Junior Venerable abbot Thich Tam Kinh. From the invitation of the Junior Venerable abbot of Tay Khanh pagoda, the Junior Venerable Thich Tam Hung, the abbot of Dong Cao pagoda- Thanh Hoa province had a Dharma talk with Buddhists at this place on the occasion of New Year.

In this sermon, he emphasized the current problem that there was a small quantity of Buddhists lacking culture of going to the pagoda. Hustle or majestic offering could not make wishes fulfilled. Peace and happiness could not obtain by going to the pagoda if we did not understand clearly value of life or behaved against moral principles.

The Pagoda is a Buddha Dharma school where the Buddha’s thoughts were spread. Buddhists coming to the pagoda should understand the core purpose which is to study and practice what Buddha taught. When going to the pagoda, it is necessary to have a proper culture of going to it to keep the solemn purity of a meditation place. At the end, the Junior Venerable hoped that Buddhists could diligently cultivate knowledge of Buddhism, applying it to everyday life in order to have peace and happiness not only in this life but also in many later lives.

After sharing Buddha Dharma, there was a Buddha’s name chanting ceremony praying for safety and Sutra reciting section in the happiness of people on the occasion of New Year.

Before the Buddhists left, the pagoda had given them lucky envelopes, “Lunar year of Dog Spring” book and cultivation calendars 2018.
