Dharma Talk: "Must Practice in This Lifetime" Delivered by Senior Thich Tri Hue at the 109th Seven-Day Retreat.
Update: 02/09/2026
On the second day of the retreat, September 3, 2026, Senior Thich Tri Hue, Standing Member of the VBS Central Dharma Propagation Board and Abbot of Phap Tang Pagoda (HCMC), delivered a Dharma talk entitled "Must Practice in This Lifetime."
The Senior emphasized the importance of practicing without attachment to favorable or adverse circumstances, as well as cultivating the Four Immeasurable Minds—loving-kindness, compassion, inner joy, and equanimity—to attain purity of mind. From this foundation, one should strongly generate Bodhicitta and follow the spirit of "benefiting oneself and others" to transcend suffering.
The light of the Dharma helps individuals dispel afflictions, attachments, and wrong views born of ignorance—the root causes of suffering. Accordingly, the preacher encouraged Buddhists to recognize the nature of suffering through three aspects: personal experience, contemplation of the life around them, and the study of teachings through listening, reflection, and practice. With this understanding, practitioners must resolve to practice diligently while accumulating merit and cultivating the Paramitas to transform suffering and attain peace and liberation.
