Update: 14/10/2022
On occasion of the ordination anniversary of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, Linh An Temple (Taiwan) held One - Day peaceful Retreat of September 19th, year of the tiger (Oct. 14th, 2022) to spread the message of sharing love, practicing looking back, letting go, and developing loving kindness to all sentient beings.
On the occasion of Taiwan's National Day, the Buddhists were on holiday, so they went to the temple to volunteer and practice together. The Dharma assembly began with the late-night practice of reciting the Shurangama mantra. In order to prepare well for the ritual, the mass has joined hands together to clean up, prepare and make lunch...
At 9 am, all practitioners gathered at the main hall to chant the Sutra of Lotus Flower - chapter of Universal Door, and then prepare a Vietnamese taste‘s lunch to have together.
In the afternoon, the Dharma assembly continued with the time of sitting meditation, chanting, etc, and then all Buddhists listened to the Buddha's teachings, answering their own questions when they were initially studying Buddhism. A swarm tea meditation session in the love of expatriates sought to return under the same roof of Buddhism in foreign lands.
With the spirit of compassion, equality, and love without discrimination, practitioners together recited the Food Giving ritual to rely on the power of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, God, and good deities protecting the Dharma to give food to sentient beings, spirits of all kinds.
The ritual ended successfully with the Lighting Offering Ceremony to offer Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, vowing to dedicate this merit to all realms; sentient beings have good conditions to study the Dharma of the Tathagata, live in awakening peace, learning about the listening, practicing the spirit of Compassion, Joy and Equanimity of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.
After the evening of Avalokitesvara anniversary, in order to share the love and good messages of the Buddha's followers, monks and Buddhists joined hands to donate small gifts to the homeless, sleeping overnight at Taipei train station (台北車站). In particular, the practitioners went to visit and give gifts, rice, milk, candy, and teddy bears to orphans in Van Son area (關愛之家), where there were orphaned children of many parents into nationalities such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Africa...
Seeing and interacting with those pitiful circumstances, we will appreciate the happiness we have and cultivate more compassion, loving, sharing to all beings. May all sentient beings in this world be less miserable and happier, and love each other more.
