Candle Lighting Ritual to commemorate Amitabha’s Buddha at Co Am Pagoda – Nghe An

Nearly 3,000 good men and women returned to Co Am pagoda in Nghe An (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda ’s custom) on the evening of Dec. 10th, 2022 (Nov. 17th, LC) to attend the Candle Lighting Ritual to commemorate the Amitabha Buddha in the sacred respect of Buddha's disciples.

In the reverent and quiet atmosphere at 18 p.m, the mass greeted the Monks coming the Lantern Lighting night to commemorate the Amitabha.

After giving the reason for the ceremony, all practitioners direct their minds to the statue of Amitabha Buddha to offer incense for Him.

In the solemn and tranquil atmosphere, Junior Thich Tam Thanh, Abbot of Co Am Pagoda lit candles from Buddha’s altar, then transferred its lighting to monks.

Harmony in the solemn and sacred atmosphere, marvelous candles are lit by Buddhists to make offerings to the Buddha. That light is to dispel the dark night of delusion, anger, and jealousy, erase the boundaries of rich and poor, happy and miserable, and open the world of Ultimate Bliss among Saha. Candlelight illuminates to bring people back to their inherent gentle nature, displaying Amitabha's nature to relieve the sorrows of human life.

Under the flickering candle, the Abbot had a word of encouragement to good men and believing women about the meaning of the phrase "Namo Amitabha Buddha" to the lives of each of us.

At the end of the ceremony, the mass and monks offered candles to light up the Buddha's altar and the ceremony night with deep respect and gratitude. By this, the mass together offers prayers for peace and luck in life for themselves and their families.
