Ceremony of Praying Peace and Lighting Candles to pray for Lunar New Year 2026 at Suoi Phap Pagoda, Tay Ninh

On Feb. 24th, 2026 (Jan. 08th, LC), Suoi Phap Pagoda, Tay Ninh solemnly celebrated the Great Ceremony of Praying for Peace in the lunar New Year, a crowd of Buddhists returned to attend.

 The abbot of Suoi Phap Pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Huong explained to listeners the beautiful meaning of the prayers for peace ceremony at the year 's beginning for Buddhists in particular and Vietnamese people in general.

 

Visiting temples to worship Buddha, Founder and enjoying the vibrant spring colors is a way to purify the body and mind for each person after a year of worries, busyness. Peace praying not only expresses wishes and hopes but also serves as a means for each person to direct their virtuous thoughts towards good things, offering homage and gratitude to the Three Jewels. The Bodhisattvas with their compassion and wisdom have always bestowed upon us fearlessness, enabling us to remain steadfast in the face of difficulties, creating a moral foundation for a virtuous life to gain happiness at present and in the future.

 

Last, the Compassion Sutra chanting and the candle-lighting ceremony were solemnly performed. The prayer rite for peace with its profound spiritual value was successfully completed in the attendee's joy.
