Dharma talk "Reciting the Buddha's name lastingly without interruption" - Senior Thich Phap Dang in the 107th Seven-day Retreat

On the seventh day of the Retreat of Jan. 05th, 2026, Senior Thich Phap Dang, Head of Director Board of Thong Nhat district’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Abbot of Hue Vien pagoda (Dong nai) had a dharma talk named “Reciting the Buddha's name lastingly without interruption.”

"Don't fear the arising of thoughts," the important is a clear and pure mind to recognize delusive thoughts. At that very moment, afflictions and restless thoughts are eradicated.

The practice of reciting the Buddha's name is suitable for most Buddhist practitioners; however, diligent practice on the Buddha's name is necessary to achieve the desired outcomes. By this, the mind becomes clear and wisdom arises.

Most Thich Thien Tam taught three essential methods in the "Ten Essentials of Pure Land Practice" for practitioners wishing lasting their Pure Land practice without interruption as following:

First, practitioners need to remember their noble aspiration and strive diligently. This is to save oneself from the cycle of rebirth, achieve the Supreme Bodhi mind, and save all beings. He explained, itself saving is not about saving this temporary physical body, however, when one recites the Buddha's name, he experiences joy in body and mind, thereby eradicating greed, anger, and delusion at those moments.

Second, clearly see its value, as the path to liberation from birth and death in a single lifetime, nurtured by good masters and good friends, so that the mind does not waver from the attainment of Buddhahood.

Third, believe in its practice so as not to be influenced by external factors leading to the wrong path or extreme practice. Because, the Master Ouyi affirmed: "The aspiration to be reborn in the Pure Land is the Supreme Bodhi mind - the mind of enlightenment, perfection, and fulfillment of the aspiration to save others."

Finally, when reciting the Buddha's name, listening with the ears, and clearly recognizing its recitation sound, practitioner's energy is abundant, complexion is radiant, wisdom is clear to transcend deluded thoughts.
