Dharma Talk “The Purpose in Life”– 92nd Seven-Day Retreat

In the morning of August 26th, 2019 (July 26th, LC), Ven. Thich Tam Hanh, a Hoang Phap monk, has a talk to the retreat participants on the title of “The Purpose of Life”.

Life is a series of grieving and happiness, so many people try to find their purpose in life. In the circle of birth and death, some can accompany with us but some can not. Therefore, a wrong purpose will waste a life. What should we abandon and accumulate?

In his sharing, he asks people to find true happiness which can fruit non-suffering in every existence. Our life is not over here but still go further, so accumulate wisdom and merit is the best choice. Material things we can not carry with us after passing away, so share them to others who are suffering and need. Besides that, we abandon attachment which is called “I” and “myself” by taking the six Paramita practice. One by one, we step on the Buddhist way to reach our goal, the final happiness. This is the purpose of our life in every existence.
