Inauguration ceremony of dining- room and offerings at Khmer Theravada Academy

On April 26th, 2023 Junior Thich Tam Hue and Buddhists from Hoang Phap Pagoda went to area 12, Chau Van Liem Ward, O Mon District, Can Tho City attended the dining-room Inauguration and made offerings to 2567 monks.

The ceremony was attended by Dharma-Lord Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Chief Most Thich Tri Quang attended and had a speech; Chief Most Chau Ty, Vice Dharma-Lord of VBS, and monks and members of Demonstrating Council (DC) of VBS.

Most Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Vice Chairman of Director Council (Dir. C); Vice-Chairman of DC; Most Thich Thien Tam, Most Dao Nhu, Most Thach Sok Xane, Senior Thich Duc Thien, Senior Thich Thanh Phong with the monks in the Standing Board of Dir. C, the Central Institute, Can Tho Buddhist  Dir. C, the Union of patriotic Bhikkhu, the Khmer Theravada monks, the Mendicant sects, the Southern provinces and cities, and the monks from Asian countries.

On the side of the government, there were the attendance of Mr. Le Quang Manh, Party Central members, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of Member-Parliament Delegation in Can Tho City; Mr. Le Minh Khanh, Head of Department of Buddhism of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs; with the Central leaders of Can Tho City and the locality.

Most Dao Nhu, Vice Chairman of Dir. C, Director of Khmer Theravada Buddhism (KTB) delivered an opening speech. Head of the Organizer said: The Academy held a stone laying ceremony on March 25th, 2017 to begin the important construction of a Sangha training facility. After six years of construction, the dining-room and kitchen object has been completed. This object has a total area of 3,600 m2, the construction cost is contributed by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central and some Buddhists totaling over 13 billion VND.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 teams and 17 individuals who had made great contributions to the Buddhist Institute of Khmer Theravada Buddhism in Can Tho City.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Dharma-Lord emphasized that education is the most important field of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and was given the highest priority by the Buddha when he was alive. In Vietnam, there are currently three academies in Hanoi, Hue and HCMC. The KTB Academy is the fourth Academy in Vietnam.

The ceremony ended with the gratitude of Most Thach Sok Xane, Permanent Vice Director of KTB Academy in Can Tho City. Then, the dignitaries in the DC, DB and leaders of Can Tho city ... together cut the ribbon to inaugurate in the joy of all participants.

Before that, the Academy held an offering ceremony according to the Theravada tradition with the participation of 2,567 monks from Vietnam and many countries in the region.

On this occasion, Junior Thich Tam Hue - Head of Charity Department of Hoang Phap Pagoda and Buddhists donated 70 million VND of net wealth.
