Mid-Autumn Festival at Dong Cao Pagoda- Thanh Hoa

With the support of good men and women everywhere, Dong Cao Pagoda (Thanh Hoa province) belonging to Hoang Phap Pagoda, organized the program "Kids return besides the Buddha on Mid-Autumn Festival" on the evening of Sep. 4th, 2022. This is a meaningful program which is the beauty of Vietnamese and Buddhist traditions.
Another Mid-Autumn Festival comes to us, reminding us of many childhood memories as well as the famous Vietnamese folktale- Moon Man and Moon Lady. On this occasion, people especially enjoy the lantern and dragon dance held all around the village. Children are considered the future of our society and Buddhism, hoping to have the living of a new world. In order to make that wish obtain, everyone has a responsibility to seed and take care of children.
On behalf of the organizer, in the opening of the show, monks and Buddhists gave a lantern to each child and went around the village with two persons dressed in dragon clothes to dance in the festival. After that, Junior Thich Tam Hung, Abbot of Dong Cao Pagoda briefly talked about the purpose and meaning of the lantern parade.
In the excitement, the parade of lanterns went all over the village, on the roads around the pagoda, came the Hoa Sen lecture hall listening to the abbot instructing to read the Gratitude poem which was composed by Most Thich Chan Tinh. At that time, he also taught Four Grace and practiced transformation of body and mind.
Then, the children enjoyed the lion dance and cultural performances performed by the local Children's Centers under the direction of Moon man and Moon lady. Coming to the last part, people gathered in the hall and enjoyed moon cake. Before leaving, young participants received a gift of Dharma from the monks.
