More than 76,000 Lucky Money Envelopes Given First Day, Lunar New Year 2016

New Year’s Eve fireworks officially woke up the spring back to the earth and all the things. No wonder both the nature and human beings have stepped into the atmosphere of Year of the Monkey. Like children who have taken off their old clothes and put on new ones in pure, cheerful appearance and delightful laughter,from which we are welcoming another new age in the hopes of upcoming luckiness, freshness and niceness in the New Year.
Visiting pagodas in order to worship the Buddha for heath, peace and happiness has become an indispensable good practice to the Vietnamese for the past centuries, which touches the heart of national cultural lifestyles.
To perform this good deed, tens of thousands of people from Buddhist groups and travelers everywhere, on New Year’s Day, got together at the pagoda very early to offer incense sticks and pray to the Buddha as well as give the best wishes to the Venerable Abbot.
In order to fully prepare for welcoming distinguished guests and Buddhists who would pay a visit to the pagoda for sightseeing and worshiping on these very first days of Lunar New Year, the pagoda had carried out buying and collecting 150,000 envelopes, 100,000 DVD and more than 2 ton crackers and jams since the last 10 days of December.
In the joy of New Year’s Day blended with the respect from myriad Buddhists gathering at the pagoda, Venerable Thich Chan Tinh and the monks of Hoang Phap Pagoda were present at the Hall from 6:00 am to 21:00 pm to for reception and giving New Year’s presents. On this occasion, from New Year’s Eve to the end of New Year’s Day, the Venerable Abbot gave more than 76,000 envelopes with lucky money and over 40,000 DVD named “A Dharma Trip†as Dharma gifts mainly about the journey on which the Venerable Abbot had made great efforts to propagate Buddhism for the past year. In addition, the pagoda also served more than half a ton of crackers and jams to distinguished guests and Buddhists visiting the pagoda on New Year’s Day.
