New Year Peace-Praying Ceremony

This morning Feb 11th , 2017, (Jan 15th of rooster year), thousands of Buddhists gathered at Hoang Phap Pagoda to attend the New Year Peace-Praying Ceremony.

Old year has passed, a new year just comes in the expectation for a prosperous and peaceful time for everyone. In the most crucial moment of new year, everyone desires to get longevity, beauty, and favors from Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ light of compassion and wisdom.

 Exactly at 9:00, it was the welcoming rite for clergy delegation before the program introduction opening the ceremony, and was then follow the Dharma talk from Senior Venerable Abbot Thich Chan Tinh to the mass.

 In human life, health is the most precious thing. Health is gold that can help us do what we want and make the most of pleasures in this world. Vice versa, if we have lots of money but lack of health, we cannot enjoy life and happiness. Nowadays, Vietnam, our country, is standing kinds of pollution as air pollution caused by heavy traffic, water pollution caused by the industrial waste discharged into rivers, food pollution caused by greedy processors using unqualified, dirty or spoiled foods causing many fatal diseases/cancer, and dozens of thousands of unnecessary death.

During the Dharma talk, the Venerable gives out many evidences of contaminated foods that are more likely the serial killers in the market to help the mass the right options for their healthy daily meals in the family.

 

Simultaneously, the Venerable awakens Buddhists to the dangers of dirty foods, shying away from such evil activities and advising others the cause and effect rule to stop their wrong occupations. If we supplied dirty foods to the society, we, Vietnamese, would kill one another. The local governments should be stricter in handling and punishing the violation of food safety to protect the health of the citizen, so that our country can be safer, healthier, advancer and happier.

 After that, it was the incense offering to pay homage to Buddha and sutra chanting for the peace of all. The mass wholeheartedly prayed for a happy new year that everyone knew taking refuge in Triratna, following Buddha teachings so that people could have peace and ease in life, and the countryhas sustainable peace and sentient beings can enjoy the bliss.

 The ceremony also has the participation of the singers:Little Kutin with the song "Soc Sbai Soc Trang", Duong Ngoc Thai with the song "Kuan Yin" and "Ca Dao Tinh Me", Little Bao Tran with the song "Tuoi Mua Xuan".

 On this day, Hoang Phap pagoda granted every participant and visitor the Dharma gift including DVD "Dharma Preaching," and the booklet "New Year Confidence".
