New Year's Eve on the Cat Year at Tay Khanh Pagoda - Thai Binh

Tet Holidays are peaceful, warm days with family, reuniting with relatives after a busy year with tasks to cover daily life. On this day, the residents working far away have returned to their house to welcome the spring in peace. For leaving-home people, this is a time to serve Buddhists who come to the temple to prostrate the Buddha, and study the teachings of the Buddha.

In the sacred moment transferring the old year to the new year, the Buddhists came to the main hall of Tay Khanh Pagoda (Thái Bình province) to welcome a peaceful spring. The monks solemnly arrived at the Buddha Hall offering incense to the Buddha and praying to the whole family of Buddhists  for the New Year  of peace and being supported in ten directions by the Buddhas, praying for the Three Jewels to bless the country with peace and happiness.

Next, Junior Thich Tam Kinh had greeting words of Tet to Buddhists. The Abbot also had encouraging words to all mass should diligently practice, usually cultivate Buddha's teachings, and regularly go to the temple to attend retreat courses. After that, the monk brought the fire from the altar to the firewood pile in the temple yard to light a warm fire in early spring. This helps dispel the cold of sky and earth, dispels the dark night, as the message of wisdom repels ignorance; compassion brings peace and warmth to everyone.

After that, everyone received the lucky pocket and dharma gifts from the handbook “A Gift of New Year” by the monks in the New Year's beginning days.
