One-Day Practice

In response to the Organizer s’ invitation, Monks of Duc Phu pagoda, HCM, Junior Thich Chon Khanh preached the topic “Benefits of listening to the Dharma”.
He expounded on the five benefits of listening to the Dharma to all attendees in his Dharma talk. The Buddha taught about the five benefits of listening to the Dharma in the Anguttara Nikaya, Chapter Five dharma, Kimbila part, the Sutta on Listening to the Dharma:
- Hearing things never heard before.
- Purifying what has been heard.
- Cultivating pure faith.
- Eliminating doubt.
- Making knowledge correct.
The Buddha's teachings emphasize that discussing the Dharma at the right time and listening to it at the right time are the supreme good omens. Listening to the Dharma is an opportunity to build a correct understanding of the phenomena, helping to increase wisdom and progress on the path of Buddhist practice.
Five benefits of listening to the Dharma help us return to the right way, provide an opportunity to practice the Buddha's teachings, and strengthen each individual's faith in the Three Jewels, enabling them to face obstacles in practicing daily life. Indeed, the Dharma is the essential resource, the source of sustenance for practitioners to have a peaceful and joyful life, face difficulties, and abandon feelings of resentment, worry, and sadness. By listening to the Dharma and diligently practicing, cultivators had a virtuous and noble life; one that is tolerant and loving towards all people.
The Dharma talk ended in joy for all attendees.
After reciting the Buddha name, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly in the afternoon. Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received dharma book gifts.
